What is a Load Balancer?

A load balancer evenly distributes items from one or more input belts to multiple output belts using splitters and mergers. It ensures each machine receives the exact same number of items per minute, which is critical for efficient factory operation.

How Splitters Work

A splitter takes one input belt and splits it into two or three outputs, dividing the items equally among them. For example, 120 items/min into 2 outputs gives 60/min each.

How Mergers Work

A merger combines multiple input belts into one output belt, summing the item rates. For example, 3 belts of 60/min become 180/min on the output, limited by belt capacity.
